It is that time of year again to show Mom how much you love her!
MetroParent Magazine and Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens are proud to announce the annual Mother's Day Contest. The contest, sponsored by MetroParent Magazine, is easy, fun, and has many chances for participants to win prizes! There are two levels for different age groups.

The following contest rules apply:
Children Ages 3 to 6 – Draw a picture of your mom with her favorite flower.
- May use crayons, paint, markers or pastels
- Draw on 8-1/2x11" sheet of paper
- Entries will be judged based on how well they convey the theme, creativeness and use of color
Children Ages 7 to 12 – Write a poem that begins with: "My mother is like (the name of the flower)…"
- Must be in child's own handwriting
- A maximum of eight (8) lines
- Write on 8-1/2x11" sheet of paper
- Additional design around the poem is encouraged, using crayons, markers and/or pastels Entries will be judged on thoughtfulness, creativity, correct grammar and neatness
Deadline: All entries are to be postmarked by Friday April 30, 2010. We will begin accepting art work starting April 1, 2010. Your child's name, age, phone number and address must appear on the back side of the entry. Classroom teachers are encouraged to have their student's each submit an entry containing the above mentioned information on the back side. All entries become the property of the Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens and are not returned.

Winners are Announced: Friday, May 7, 2010
Display: Winners and other selected entries will be displayed at the Education & Visitor Center at the Boerner Botanical Gardens on Mother's Day (Sunday May 9, 2010) and throughout the month of May.
Contest prize awards:
Grand Prize – Family Membership ($65 value) to the Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens and Brunch by Bartolotta Catering for a family of four (does not include Mother’s Day Brunch).
First Prize – FBBG Family membership ($65 value)
Second Prize – $25 Gift Certificate to the Friends Gift Shop
